About us

OldWorldAtlas brings the beauty, stories, and delightful mistakes of historical cartography to modern walls.
We source ultra-high-resolution maps from public archives (like the Library of Congress), carefully restore them with light digital cleaning while preserving the original patina, and produce matte fine-art prints ready to display.

What we believe

  • Living history. Every map captures an era—provisional borders, vanished names, “unknown parts.”

  • Gallery quality. Pigment printing on matte papers for deep blacks, fine detail, and zero glare.

  • Transparency. We always cite the source, rights status, and key historical notes.

  • Access. We also offer free high-res downloads so anyone can explore and study.

How we work

  1. Research & source — public-domain scans from trusted collections.

  2. Light restoration — dust/crease cleanup; patina preserved.

  3. Color management — ICC-profiled proofs on matte stock.

  4. Print & finish — pigment print, borderless trim, manual QC, protective packing.

A map is more than a print—it’s a way to see the world as it was, and how much it has changed.
